You can delete your StrayStar app data or your StrayStar account from within the app by using the “Delete data” and “Delete account” options in the options menu at the lower right of the app screen.
You can also request deletion by emailing [email protected] with the subject “Delete My Data” or “Delete My Account”.
To protect your account, the request should be sent from the email address used for your StrayStar account. If you contact us from a different email address, we may need to verify your identity before processing the request.
If you request “Delete My Data”, we will delete the app data associated with your account, including device links, settings, alert preferences, geofences, shared access allocations, and location history associated with your account. Your account login may remain active unless you also ask us to delete your account.
If you request “Delete My Account”, we will delete your StrayStar account and associated app data.
We aim to complete deletion requests without undue delay and within one month. We may retain limited information where necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or record-keeping obligations. Data held in backups may remain until those backups are overwritten, but it will not be used for normal app purposes.
A summary of your data used with the app is as follows:
Email address – used to create and log into your account. Retained until the account is deleted, unless limited retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.
Tracker name – optional name used to identify a tracker and customise alerts. Retained until deleted by the user or until the account is deleted.
Tracker location history – used to show recent tracker movement and history. Normally retained for seven days before automatic deletion.
Alert preferences – optional choices for app or email alerts. Retained until deleted by the user or until the account is deleted.
Geofence locations – optional location zones used to provide location-based alerts. Retained until deleted by the user or until the account is deleted.
Shared access details – optional shared access email addresses for secondary carers or authorised users. Retained while shared access remains active. Access can be revoked by the account holder at any time.
